Business customers are the target
A night depository is used by local businesses carrying a day's takings, on a schedule anyone watching can learn within a week. That predictability is the whole vulnerability.
Vehicles change the geometry
Approach and exit routes, where a car can wait unseen, and whether a driver at the lane can see anyone approaching. Standing in the lane during the survey answers this in a way that a site plan cannot.
Cameras aimed at plates, not at cars
Most drive-through coverage produces a picture of a vehicle nobody can identify. One camera positioned and focused for plate capture at the entry point is worth more than four wide shots.
Advise your commercial customers
Vary the time, vary the route, come during daylight where possible, and do not make the deposit alone. Branches that have this conversation with their business customers see fewer of these incidents.
Officer presence at the peak window
Most depository use clusters in a predictable ninety-minute window after local businesses close. Covering that window is usually the whole of what this zone needs.
