Consolidations, relocations and overnight work — when the usual controls are all temporarily suspended.
Everything normal is off
Doors propped for contractors, alarm zones disabled, cameras unplugged, unfamiliar people on site, and equipment being carried out of the building legitimately. Every control you rely on is suspended at once.
Announced closures attract attention
A branch publicly closing on a known date is watched. The final fortnight and the week immediately afterwards, while the site sits empty but still looks like a bank, both need cover.
Contractor access as a register
Named individuals, expected hours, escorted or unescorted, signed in and out. On a refit this is the single most useful document produced, and the one nobody maintains without an officer to own it.
The equipment leaving matters
ATMs, safes, security devices, signage and branded materials all have value or can be misused. Removals are logged against a manifest rather than waved through because someone is wearing a hi-vis.
Customers keep arriving
People turn up at a closed branch for weeks afterwards, sometimes confused and occasionally distressed. An officer who can explain calmly where to go is doing customer service as much as security.
